About the Item
A monumental mirror by renowned Israeli artist Ilana Goor (b. 1936), embodying her signature brutalist-organic modern style. Constructed from concrete reinforcing bars (rebar) with a natural verdigris finish, the set features a whimsical bronze bird motif that adds playful, sculptural charm—reminiscent of Alberto and Diego Giacometti's work. This piece would elevate any interior, from modern to industrial-boho. It is labeled "Ilana Goor" as shown in the images.
From the LA Times in 1989: "Says Goor: 'My pieces look organic, as if they’re growing. Everything is a little asymmetrical.' She embellishes her pieces with spookily realistic bronze birds, frogs, snails, turtles, rabbits, pigeons, eagles, cats and dogs. They mimic the creatures who would congregate on her terrace in the morning. As the sun rose in the sky and the day grew hotter, the animals would leave to seek shade. Missing them, she sculpted substitutes."
