About the Item
A beautiful Italian 18th century Louis XIV period Giltwood and silvered Mecca mirror. The mirror is raised on pierced tapering triangular shaped feet decorated by leaves and scrolled designs. Above is its original mirror plate which is framed within a mottled frame with scrolled floral branches at the bottom and at the top. The mirror is decorated at the top with an elaborate and most elegant pierced crown with two 'C' scrolls amidst foliate branch, ribbons and acanthus leaves. The crown is also decorated by a Mecca swaging foliate garland all below a top central oak leaf. Wonderfully proportioned throughout.
