About the Item
This mid 18th century Italian Tuscan Neoclassical Mirror features an architectural carved wood frame richly decorated with gilding and muted polychrome, characteristic of Italian craftsmanship inspired by classical antiquity. The sides of the frame are adorned with finely carved urns, foliate scrolls, and floral motifs, supporting an entablature-style crest and base. The upper frieze is decorated with classical ornament and stylized rosettes, while the lower apron displays a central floral medallion flanked by scrolling foliage. Subtle traces of aged blue-green and earth-toned polychrome beneath the gilding add depth and visual interest, lending the mirror a layered, timeworn elegance.
