About the Item
A striking Italian mid 18th century Louis XIV Period Giltwood mirror. This exceptional double framed mirror is centered by the original beveled mirror plate set within a finely carved foliate border. The outer frame displays a most decorative lightly scalloped shape with rich sea shell reserves and floral rosettes separating the smaller original mirror plates. Above is the majestic and intricately pierced top crown displaying a central oval mirror plate flanked by beautiful foliate movements. Leading up each side are most uniquely shaped mirror plates fitted within richly carved foliate moments and an impressive top sea shell reserve. All original gilt throughout.
