About the Item
An elegant and most decorative Italian mid 18th century Louis XVI Period Giltwood mirror. This impressive vertical mirror retains all of its original mirror plates and gilding throughout. The mirror plates are surrounded by a delicate inner twisted ribbon trim and a central elongated acanthus leaf band. On the outer edge is an attractive mottled edge. The top of the mirror displays a separate crown with a wave like design atop of a hammered background.
