Italian Neoclassical Style Giltwood Inlaid
Carved Specimen Marble Mirror
A striking architectural mirror in the neoclassical manner, made in Italy in the 20th century. The frame is richly carved and finished in warm gilt with polychrome accents, taking the form of a classical temple façade with a broken triangular pediment and stepped plinth base.
The mirror features four turned columns—two on each side—adorned in a faux rosso antico finish, topped with carved composite capitals. The stepped base incorporates inset panels of specimen marbles, including what appear to be black Portoro, pink alabaster, and white Carrara, adding further dimension and classical refinement.
At the center sits a beveled inset mirror plate measuring 12" wide x 20" high, surrounded by a deeply molded gilt frame. The overall composition reflects the grandeur and symmetry of neoclassical design, ideal as a statement piece above a console, mantel, or in a gallery wall arrangement.
