About the Item
A rare Italian ‘Onda’ wall mirror designed by Nanda Vigo for Glas Italia in the 1980s. The oval mirror glass gracefully rests upon a satin glass frame, rendered in a muted aqua hue that features delicate ripples. The wavy outer edge introduces a dynamic sense of movement, reflecting Vigo's design philosophy that blurs the line between functionality and art. Unmarked.
Nanda Vigo (1936–2020) was an Italian artist, designer, and architect who pioneered a number of innovative techniques within modern and contemporary art. Her more recent designs have focused on sensory impulses, utilizing materials such as glass, mirrors, and neon lights.
Throughout her career, Vigo collaborated with many famous Italian designers and artists including Gio Ponti, Lucio Fontana, and Piero Manzoni; she is also featured in multiple iterations of the Triennale di Milano, as well as the Venice Biennale.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with a few minor scuffs to the frame. Hardware present on the backside for hanging both horizontally and vertically.
