Elegant Shield-Shaped Murano Wall Mirror with Candleholder and Etched Figure, Italy, 1930s
This charming Venetian wall mirror, dating back to the 1930s, features a delicately shield-shaped outline adorned with hand-blown glass details. The frame is crafted from clear glass with a warm golden undertone, giving it the appearance of gilded Murano glass. It showcases a twisted ribbed texture and decorative glass flowers at both the top and bottom.
At the top of the mirror, fine, floral glass ornaments frame a central etched motif, depicting a man holding a lorgnette and gazing at birds in flight, creating a charming and rare decorative scene. A small candleholder made of matching glass and brass completes the design.
The mirror is mounted on a plywood backplate and is in good condition, displaying only light signs of age, such as minor spotting on the glass and a gentle patina on the candleholder. This delightful decorative piece captures the refined artistry of early 20th-century Venetian glassmaking.
