About the Item
Large gilt frame from the second half of the 1800s; (c. 1880.)
The gilding was done with mixed techniques (gold leaf etc.) and the fine decorations are done in stucco.
Of European provenance, probably French.
Versatile furnishing item that can also be used in its present condition (without restoration) as a decorative element. Also suitable for holding a large mirror.
Wooden frame is sound, gilding to be restored in places.
