This beautiful carved wood framed mirror was made in Italy in the 19th century.
Large and impressive with lovely detail on the carved wood frame.
This mirror has a dark, richly carved wooden frame featuring intricate openwork (pierced) carvings.
The carvings include scrolls, foliage motifs, and symmetrical floral elements, characteristic of Baroque or Rococo-influenced craftsmanship.
The is hand-carved with deep relief and detailing along all four sides.
The inner edge of the frame has a beveled mirror border with some visible foxing - consistent with it's age and patina — this is typical of aged silvered glass.
The central mirror surface shows light foxing, further indicating age and use.
The elaborate woodwork and ornate patterning is typical of Italian carving in the 1800s.
