About the Item
Pair of Gio Ponti attributed Mid-Century Modern full standing length wall mirrors in patinated brass and original mildly patinated glass. Made in Italy in 1950s.
The shape of the mirror is a very elegant ovaloid with rounded corners and beautiful taper. There is concavity on the top and bottom portions of the frame as well as on the left and right sides. The mirrors are symmetrical on horizontal and vertical planes so that the top is the same as the bottom and left is the same as right side.
The glass is original and shows very slight patina. The brass shows an attractive age-appropriate patina.
This mirror is constructed in wood, with a brass lip wrought around the perimeter and holding the mirror in place. Brass screws adorn the rim of the mirror, which are both beautiful and functional as they fixe the brass lip to the wood and thereby holds the glass in place. The wall mount is hidden behind the mirror to ensure a seamless adhesion to the wall.
The mirror is highly versatile and suitable for most rooms in the home, including foyer, bedroom, bathroom, dressing room etc.
