the frames with molded edges and gilded rabbets and varying paint colors of off-white and black showing the different layers of paints throughout their lifespan, it wasn't uncommon for frames to be repainted in completely different ways from the original design in order to keep up with new trends, this is a unique view of the history of these 18th century frames, now fitted with modern 1/4" mirrorplates
