About the Item
This pair of small scale French Regency style gilt wood mirrors from the turn of the twentieth century features their original mercury glass. Each mirror is detailed with a shell motif at the top and bottom and is finished with scrolling acanthus leaves and flowers around the frame. Their original iron oxide under-bodies give them a rich glow, and the burnished lines of the gold leaves laid across the form create a beautiful pattern of their own. c. 1900.
