An exceptionally rare and refined pair of Swedish mirror sconces from the Karl Johan period (Swedish Empire), dating to the 1830s. Crafted in ebonized birch with gracefully formed brass candle arms, these mirror appliqués present a strikingly modern silhouette that feels almost anticipatory of Art Deco—nearly a century ahead of its time.
The restrained, architectural mirror frames contrast beautifully with the sculptural brass arms, whose detailing and construction clearly anchor the pieces in the early 19th century.
