Petite in scale but bold in personality, this early 20th-century French Tramp Art mirror delivers hand-carved intricacy in a size that’s easy to place. Crafted circa 1900, the geometric frame is built up from layers of chip-carved wood with stepped corners and recessed central panels that create dimension from every angle. Brass tacks punctuate the four corners, center, and midpoints of the vertical sides—adding rhythm to the pattern and depth to the surface.
Measuring just under 15 inches tall, this is one of the smallest antique Tramp Art mirrors we’ve encountered. The mirror glass is cleanly fitted, with a pleasing scale that reflects just enough of the surrounding room without overwhelming. Its frame reads as warm walnut brown in natural light, with subtle color variations that emphasize the handiwork. A wire has been professionally mounted to the back for immediate hanging.
Whether styled above a small console, tucked into a gallery wall, or layered on a bookshelf, this mirror brings folk art character in a size that works almost anywhere.
