About the Item
This unique mirror was created as a collaboration between Pierre Renart, designer and cabinetmaker, and Lison de Caunes, a master of the art of straw marquetry.
The mirror celebrates the precious savoir-faire of straw marquetry through its elegant, teardrop-inspired form. The straw marquetry colours were carefully selected by Lison de Caunes to create a radiant, sun-like motif in warm golden tones, enhancing the luminous quality of the surface.
Crafted in American walnut, the mirror is entirely covered using Lison de Caunes’ marquetry technique, transforming the object into a refined decorative artwork. Designed to adorn a wall, it integrates effortlessly into a wide range of interior styles, from contemporary to more classic settings.
Straw marquetry is a traditional French craft, particularly emblematic of the Art Deco period, and this piece pays homage to that heritage through a contemporary interpretation. The mirror may also be commissioned with alternative straw colours or different marquetry patterns, allowing for bespoke adaptations.

Pierre Renart
Pierre Renart (born 1990, France) is an artist, designer, and cabinetmaker, graduating as Valedictorian from the École Boulle in 2011. A tireless explorer of materials, he combines traditional woodworking expertise with advanced technologies, pushing the boundaries of contemporary furniture design.
His work is distinguished by the elegance of its lines and the seamless integration of function and form. Pierre Renart quickly gained recognition among collectors, notably with his iconic Genesis armchair. His practice spans bespoke furniture and spatial design projects for collectors, architects, decorators, and professionals.
In 2019, his Möbius Console entered the permanent collections of the MAD – Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, where it is displayed in the Marsan Pavilion. The Mobilier National acquired several of his works between 2020 and 2023, including pieces from the Ruban and Genèse collections. Since 2017, Pierre Renart has been based near Blois, France, where his large, state-of-the-art workshop enables him and his team to realise ambitious, large-scale projects.
