About the Item
Portuguese 18th century wall mirror with fabulous baroque carvings in oak reinforced by a backboard of painted oak planks in lime-wash effect. Surrounding the original glass plate is a thick border carved to high-relief, in a dense foliate pattern with traces of the original gilt and polychrome within the layers of acanthus leaves. The weathered oak planks on the back reflect a smooth, ivory pigment in contrast to the dark oak in front. Please view the detailed images to see more.
