About the Item

The Sillon series , designed by Sebastian Herkner for &Tradition, takes its cue from the French Art Deco movement. Named after the French word for ‘groove,’ the Sillon series of mirrors is punctuated with a corrugated frame that contrasts beautifully with the smooth, reflective glass. The frame is made of Ø10mm solid steel rods that are welded together, polished and then electroplated. A high-quality silver-colored mirror is subsequently installed in the frame. Dimensions W: 190cm/74.8in H: 60cm/23.6in Weight 28.0 kg Designer Sebastian Herkner German designer Sebastian Herkner transposes contemporary objects into cultural artefacts and vice versa, channelling his appreciation of authentic materials and artisan skills combined with modern technology. After graduating from the University of Art and Design in Offenbach, Herkner’s apprenticeship with Stella McCartney in London sparked his fascination with form, structure, texture, materials, and effects—an influence that is evident in every detail of his work. Herkner’s Sillon, part of the &Tradition collection, are a series of circular and rectangular mirrors in varying sizes inspired by the designs of French Art Deco.
