A charming mid-19th century French Louis-Philippe mirror, distinguished by its compact proportions and refined use of contrast. The frame features the classic Louis-Philippe shape, with rounded upper corners and a subtly angled lower profile, creating a graceful yet restrained silhouette that complements a variety of interiors. The outer frame is finished in deep black lacquer, which elegantly offsets the luminous gilt inner band. The gilded surface—likely mercury gilt, as was customary in the period—displays a beautifully aged patina with delicate craquelure, tonal variation, and worn edges that speak to its history without compromising its integrity.
