About the Item
This nineteenth century Louis Philippe period gilt wood mirror features its original mercury glass. Its pillow frame is detailed with a subtle incised striped pattern and an inner border of fine beading. Its original iron oxide under-body gives it a rich glow, and the burnished lines of the gold leaves laid across the form create a beautiful pattern of their own. Measuring 42 inches in height and 30 inches in width, this mirror would be ideal for a powder bath, entryway, or above a chest of drawers. c. 1830-1848.
