About the Item
This fine bedroom set comprises a bedstead and armoire wardrobe which are crafted in mahogany and kingwood parquetry and mounted with delicate ormolu. The headrest of the bedstead features a central rectangular panel of parquetry, and foliate ormolu mounts to the top and sides. The footrest similarly features ormolu mounts running across the top, and a rectangular panel of parquetry with a circular section. The bed is mounted to each of the centres of the lower sides with foliate ormolu motifs, and sits on four, ormolu capped feet. The armoire wardrobe stands on four ormolu-mounted feet, and features a foliate ormolu mount to the lower centre. The wardrobe is formed of three full length doors of which the central door is the largest and decorated with a large, ormolu framed mirror. The pair of flanking doors features panels of parquetry.
The wardrobe is inscribed: 'Haentges Freres, Fabricants'.
