About the Item

This magnificent antique 19th century Sheraton field bed has been adapted to a king size by Leonards of Seekonk, MA, a respected New England workshop specializing in the resizing of fine antique beds. It retains the classic Sheraton form with bold, turned posts capped by finely detailed finials, evoking the refined elegance of early American design. The posts display deeply carved ring-turnings and reeded ornamentation, balanced by a shaped headboard that lends graceful proportion to the commanding height of the bed. The resizing by Leonards preserves the integrity of the original frame while allowing the bed to accommodate a modern king mattress, making it both historically significant and highly functional for today’s interiors. In nice antique condition consistent with age and use, this bed shows light surface wear that underscores its authenticity. A rare opportunity to own a period Sheraton field bed adapted for modern living, this piece makes a dramatic statement in both traditional and eclectic settings. 77h x 82w x 89d
