About the Item

Single bed or daybed, Reconstruction period, free-form, with a solid wood assembly and attractive rounded lines, attributed to Roger Landault, France in the 1950s. In the spirit of Motte, René Caillette, etc. . DIMENSIONS : L 196 x D 96 x H 76 cm . Headboard height : 76 cm Footboard height : 55 cm Side edge height : 31.5 cm . CONDITION : In good original vintage condition. . Some slight wear and scratches, marks that in no way detract from the beauty of this piece. Very beautiful patina. As you can see, the back of the headboard is unfinished, unvarnished. Assume this will not be noticeable if the bed is positioned facing and against a wall. You can varnish this side if you wish. . The bed has been disassembled (see photo), which will make transport easier and will result in much lower transport costs. . Do not hesitate to ask me your questions and let us know your requests.

H. 74 cm W. 131 cm D. 71 cm Provenance : University residence - France - 1950 Roger Landault . This office by Robert Charroy bears the marks of its use, and for good reason, it has equipped the Jean Zay university residence, for which it was designed. The patina of time therefore takes on all its charm, with a touch of nostalgia for some. This piece of furniture tells the story of an exceptional context, that of the student housing project launched in the emergency of post-war reconstruction, in 1948, and which has evolved to become the most ambitious university pilot program in Europe. In 1954, he offered to accommodate 3,000 students in functionally furnished accommodation and common areas, thanks to two competitions organized in 1955 and 1956. The watchword: quality produced at a lower cost using industrial processes . A beautiful playground for designers, including Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand Marcel Gascoin, Roger Landault, Jean Lesage...
