About the Item
Bed “The Mouth of Truth”, designed by Mario Ceroli for Poltronova, Italy, 1972. The imposing and iconic volume of this monumental bed conceives a real anthropomorphic space, where solid wood highlights its consistency and the shape of the edges. The result is a work with a visionary character, which combines the sacredness of an ancient monumental relic with the strength of an enlarged surreal object. As in his best works, Ceroli combines the artisanal quality of woodworking with a creative originality that mixes pop references and tradition, making the object a sculpture to be inhabited. Its form, at once archaic and modern, establishes a powerful and primary relationship with the person, going beyond the simple function of use.
