Majestic and rare brutalist sculptural bed frame titled "Aurora," designed by Luciano Frigerio for Frigerio di Desio in 1970.
This extraordinary piece is part of the ULTRABRONZO99 collection, a limited-edition series of 99 beds featuring monumental headboards made of lost-wax cast bronze and solid brass blocks - true functional sculptures.
The bed features a textured wrought iron arch structure that supports a massive high-relief brass sculpture, crafted using traditional "cera persa" (lost-wax casting). The level of craftsmanship and technical execution is comparable to museum-grade sculpture.
Frigerio's approach diverged from the rationalism and minimalism of the time. His works, especially from the 1960s to the 1980s, blur the line between furniture and art, producing limited-edition masterpieces that embody both design innovation and artistic expression.
This ULTRABRONZO99 bed is a striking example of his philosophy-where the bed becomes a sculptural centerpiece rather than just a piece of furniture.
The bed is in excellent vintage condition, with a rich, original patina and comes with the original certificate of authenticity, issued by the heirs of Luciano Frigerio.

The headboard comprises a large Brutalist sand-cast sculpture, overlaid on an arc of textured lacquered metal, which has a deep gold finish.
The piece is in very nice vintage condition. We have left the sculpture unpolished and it has a developed an aged patina, ranging from brown to gold. There are minor losses to the finish of the headboard frame, both the arc and the cross-bars. The sculpture is bolted to the bed frame; it appears it could be unbolted and used separately, though we have not tried to do so.
