About the Item
This piece is designed and hand-crafted by yours truly in Long Beach. The bed pictured is built from walnut, but I can use other woods upon request. The design is my own, inspired by the Scandinavian furniture of the 50's (Danish/Mid Century Modern). All joinery is mortise and tenon, which means it's strong and built to last forever.
The price listed here is for a queen bed (frame alone is 65" by 85"). We can make this a king or full as well.
The bottom of the bed is 8 1/2 inches off the ground, and the top of the headboard is about 39 inches off the ground, and there's about 13 inches from the top of the slats to the bottom of the headboard* (see note below). The mattress rests on slats, and I can put a thin sheet of plywood over the slats to give a uniform, platform-like surface upon request (some folks prefer just the slats- depends on your mattress). It has four drawers underneath, two that slide out on each side (in the picture there are only two long drawers that slide out to either side of the bed, I have since switched to four drawers). Each drawer is approximately 6 inches tall, 29 inches wide, and 27 inches deep**
My design approach on the drawers is to keep them recessed behind the edge of the bed, and to have them floating off the ground, so that visually the bed does not feel bulky like most storage beds do. The drawers are built from the same wood as the bed, so if someone does look underneath they'll see the same beautiful wood as elsewhere. Also, I typically leave about 16" from the back of the bed to the back of the closest drawer so that the drawer will not run into a night stand. All elements of the design can be customized for the needs of your room.
The night stands are attached by two bolts (they detach for moving purposes) and are roughly 15" wide, 15" deep, and 23" tall but the size can be customized. They rest on one leg, and the rear drawer slides freely under them.

Pete Deeble Furniture
PETE DEEBLE FURNITURE I began building things with my dad as a kid, fashioning my own cases for records and instruments and other such wares. I also built countless skateboarding ramps with my friends. As long as I can remember I’ve had a proclivity for inventing and creating things, and as such woodworking has always been a natural outlet for that. Sometime around 2007 I began building more serious furniture for me and my wife to enjoy…first a credenza, then a wall unit, then a bed. At this point it became clear that design and craft was a calling that I needed to pursue. I was teaching high school math at the time, so I began to develop furniture design as a side project initially. I put up a blog and began taking orders, and my little side project slowly morphed into a vocation. In June of 2017 I quit teaching to pursue furniture full time, and in September of 2017 I moved into my current studio, which is located in Long Beach, CA. My design sense is highly influenced by Scandinavian furniture from the middle part of the most previous century, which is to say that my aesthetic tends towards modern and minimal, mid century modern, Danish modern, etc. My furniture is generally built from hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, maple, rosewood etc. I work with a small group of highly skilled craftsman who produce alongside me, crafting handmade goods in Long Beach, CA.
All of our furniture is made to order and we can usually customize sizes and other details. We are also able to build in other species of wood (birch, oak, ebonized oak, cherry, walnut, jatoba, mahogany, etc). Feel free to reach out and let us know what you have in mind.
