About the Item
A handsome French Directoire style bed crafted in carved beech and retaining its original painted finish. The rectangular headboard and footboard are decorated with classical urn motifs centered within softly outlined reserves, reflecting the restrained neoclassical elegance of the Directoire period. Fluted corner posts with carved details rest on tapering feet, lending the piece a light and architectural presence. The painted surface shows a gently aged patina consistent with age, enhancing its authentic character. Queen width.
This bed is shorter in length than the modern queen size. However, there are ways to adapt antique and vintage beds to today. One of those options is to order a custom box spring and mattress that will fit your new bed as is. Alternatively, rails may sometimes be extended at an additional cost to accommodate a standard Queen mattress. We are happy to discuss options with you. Please inquire.
