About the Item
Exceptional and historically significant "Thailandia" bed, designed in collaboration by Ciansky, Shelba, and Luciano Frigerio for Frigerio di Desio, Italy, in the late 1960s.
This piece is noteworthy as the first brass cast bed ever produced by Frigerio, marking the beginning of a long artistic journey that led to hundreds of sculptural furniture pieces between 1960 and 1990.
It also stands as a tribute to the legendary collaboration between Arnaldo Pomodoro and Osvaldo Borsani from the 1940s-both friends and influences of Frigerio.
The headboard and footboard are made from solid cast and hammered brass, featuring geometric motifs and high-relief sculptural plaques designed by Luciano Frigerio, cast using the lost-wax method. The structure is refined yet powerful, with artistic depth that blurs the lines between furniture and sculpture.
The bed is in excellent original condition, as shown in the photos, and comes with its original certificate of authenticity issued by the Frigerio estate.
