A magnificent Victorian mahogany four poster bed with substantial bow shaped footboard and shaped canopy. The turned tapered posts at the foot of the bed have large decorative features, which sit on tall square section plinths above bun feet. The bowed footboard with superb burr mahogany veneer has a central carving of vines and grapes and accentuated shoulders. Whilst the magnificent canopy with wave design cornice has a highly unusual bowed front section, which mirrors the bow shape of the footboard, and is also matched by a bow shaped canopy rail. The three canopy rails have the original rings to support drapes. This four poster bed is the height of Victorian drama and is one of the finest examples we have ever handled. It does require a little work to bring it back to its former glory but otherwise is in excellent condition. There are minor carving repairs and the whole bed requires a refinish to bring back the depth of colour. However Seventh Heaven will complete all the work to the highest standard - this bed will be truely eye-catching when complete. There are options for the depth of the bed. It is 60 inches wide so will accommodate a UK King or US Queen size mattress, but the length is short and currently will only take a 69 inch long mattress. However, we have the ability to extend the length of the bed (bed runners and canopy) to take the full length mattress rquired for a UK King (60in x 78in) or US Queen size (60in x 80in). The price includes the extension of the length of the bed. If you wish the bed in its current dimensions please ask for a quotation. We can also provide a base and mattress to fit the current dimensions. There is also an option for the back panel of the bed. The original board can be retained if you wish, or we could replace with an upholstered back board covered in a fabric of your choice, along with a canopy infil. Drapes can be provided in a fabric of your choice at an extra cost. We work with a top curtain maker who make the highest quality drapes. We will provide a base to support the mattress on top of the slats on the bed. This can be either firm or sprung and will add to the comfort of the mattress. This can be at different depths and will raise the mattress to the correct height for you and the proportions of the bed. The time for the work required to complete the bed will be 2 to 3 months from order. We can deliver and assemble the bed in location in the UK (cost provided) and offer worldwide shipping.
