A pretty pair of French, inlaid kingwood, one drawer nightstands with tray accents, circa 1930.
Pair of French Louis XV style walnut bedside tables from the early 20th century. This pair of French 'tables de chevet' was created in the early years of the 20th century, at a time when the country revisited the Rococo style that marked the reign of King Louis XV as a means to Revive national pride and heritage. Each of these exquisite side tables features a serpentine tray top framed by a three-quarter gallery. One table is adorned with three thin dovetailed drawers and the matching table has only one drawer and open shelf in the rest of the quarter. They are both decorated with marquetry side posts and a carved apron, raised on four tall and slender cabriole legs with hoofed feet, typical of the Louis XV period. The ensemble is delicate and elegant, with a beautiful waxed and lines that will bring a touch of sophistication to any room, particularly a bedroom where they could be used to anchor a bed.
