A period French Empire (1804-1815) mahogany chest of drawers nightstand with beautifully aged patina.
Born in France in the early 19th century, hand-crafted of warm rich solid mahogany with attractive grain detail, Napoleonic era Neoclassical Louis XVI influenced style, having a rectangular Belgian black marble top, mounted over conforming case fitted with three dovetailed drawers, above four turned and tapered supports, joined by thick single board plank medial open shelf, rising on distinctive bobbin turned feet. circa 1810

Versatile:
As warm and handsome as it is functional, finished on all sides so it can be placed anywhere in the room, and having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a bedside cabinet or bedroom commode, chair side table, sofa end table, lamp stand, petite hall console, and more.
Great original antique condition, especially considering it's well over 200 years old. Wear consistent with age and use. Delivered cleaned, waxed, with hand rubbed polished French patina finish, ready for immediate use and generational enjoyment!
Detailed Condition Report:
Strong, sturdy, stable and structurally sound, with nicely aged heavily worn warm rich dark patina over the whole. Retaining original antique character marks and rustic charm throughout, including evidence of old fill, scattered nicks and losses, light scratches, minor chip to back left corner of marble, lacking interior top drawer lock plate, later escutcheons, age related split at right side panel. Overall a wonderful example, sure to add sophisticated character, elegant warmth, classic styling, and rich historical depth to any space.
