About the Item

This exquisite Italian Louis XVI nightstand, dating to the early 1800s, is a superb example of neoclassical elegance and craftsmanship. Constructed from solid cherry wood and masterfully inlaid on three sides, the piece features a finely executed checkerboard pattern on the top surface, composed of alternating light and dark wood veneers. The geometric inlay continues along the door and side panels, framed by delicately carved borders. Its single door opens with a rotating wooden knob to reveal a well-proportioned interior fitted with a shelf, offering generous storage for bedside or living room use. The legs are turned and fluted, with half-round carvings that add rhythm and refinement to the vertical lines. Compact yet visually rich, this nightstand blends utility with timeless beauty.
