About the Item

Part of Jacques Jarrige’s Carnac series, this small floating console distills the artist’s sculptural language into a compact, versatile form. Hand-carved from layered MDF and finished in a rich mahogany stain, the piece reveals the artist’s deep engagement with material and form. The surface bears the subtle traces of his hand tools, giving warmth and tactility to the otherwise streamlined shape. Deceptively simple in outline, the console is defined by its gentle curves, organic edges, and perfectly balanced proportions. Mounted on the wall, it appears to hover—its presence at once discreet and quietly assertive. Its adaptable scale makes it suitable as a nightstand, side table, or display shelf, integrating seamlessly into domestic or gallery spaces. As with all of Jarrige’s work, the piece celebrates the relationship between mass and void, contour and volume. The absence of ornament draws attention to the purity of the form and the artist’s mastery of proportion, while the deep mahogany finish lends it a timeless warmth. Each Carnac console is a unique, signed work—no two are alike—embodying Jarrige’s ongoing commitment to furniture as sculpture.
