About the Item
Pair 19th century Country French Louis XVI painted nightstands is a charming example of the combination of classical architecture and rustic French charm! A wraparound backsplash encompasses a candle shelf above, and encloses the main surface to keep things in place. The sides are beautifully carved and pierced with an oval which creates a handle effect, with an undulating rail created in the design that also protects the candle shelf. The casework below consists of fluting on all three sides, with a drawer in the middle, centered with a flower motif and a pull knob. Four tapered legs provide support, each carved with Greek coin overlay. The painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, and enhances the fine carved detail to magnify the visual allure.
