About the Item
An adapted version of our architectural oak pillar nightstands / end tables. Designed and handcrafted in England using traditional cabinetry techniques with the most beautiful and finest English quartersawn oak. Hand-cut large dovetail jointing with turned oak upright column piercing through the sections cut flush/visible to the top surface.
A design drawing influences from very early 20th century European modernist architecture. These are unique multi functioning pieces of furniture. The top surface has a hidden supporting collar within the surface and can take significant weight. These are substantial, bold and striking pieces of completely handmade furniture, built to last a lifetime and beyond.
Finished in durable natural oils.
We design bold and distinctive pieces of furniture – our main objective is combining the design alongside the natural beauty and properties of the raw materials.
These timbers and materials are very carefully chosen for each specific design - maintaining our focus on the benefits, visual impact and strengths of what we use.
Our regular use of English Quartersawn Oak is one case in point. It has been the beloved timber of fine furniture makers across the world for centuries. It is costly to produce but gives huge benefits and rewards such as its striking medullary rays and superb stability qualities.
By utilising these wonderful and naturally occurring features with our contemporary designs we aim to continue creating some very distinct, tactile and idiosyncratic pieces.
These are all completely handmade, in very small numbers, by our skilled craftspeople in England.
