About the Item
Elegant pair of hand-carved Venetian console night stands, Italy, circa 1930s, executed in the refined tradition of Venetian Rococo Revival (Rococò Veneziano). These sculptural pieces combine decorative sophistication with fine Italian craftsmanship, making them equally suitable as bedside tables or wall-mounted consoles.
Each stand is topped with a shaped Rosso Verona marble slab, a classic Italian marble admired for its warm red coloration and expressive pale veining. The softly contoured marble tops echo the flowing lines of the carved bases and add visual richness and material contrast.
The giltwood frames are finely hand-carved with traditional rocaille ornamentation, scrolling foliage, and asymmetrical detailing characteristic of Venetian Rococo design. The elegant S-curved legs converge into a central pedestal support, terminating in shaped feet — a form derived from 18th-century Venetian wall consoles (consolle a mezza luna), here reinterpreted in an early 20th-century revival context.
Produced during a period when Venetian workshops continued to favor artisanal production over industrial methods, these night stands exemplify the enduring appeal of historic decorative styles adapted for refined interiors. Their scale and sculptural presence make them ideal for both classical and eclectic settings.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor wear and patina consistent with age and use. Marble tops are well preserved.
