About the Item

An exceptional and rare elliptical bedside table made from bird’s-eye Amboyna veneer. The nightstand features a brush slide and a drawer box, each with elegant hardware, as well as a scrolled base. The piece is stamped with the creator's "Ruhlmann" stamp and the Atelier "A" mark. Referenced under N° 1054NR in the Ruhlmann archives. Provenance: Margaret Hunam Harmsworth, née Redhead, 154 avenue des Champs-Elysées, Paris; The Estate of Ellen L. Parkinson, Medford, Massachusett Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
