About the Item

A collectible Kartell K1340 kids chair designed by Richard Sapper and Marco Zanuso and produced in Italy between 1964 and 1979. Recognized with the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award, this model represents a turning point in the history of industrial design — one of the first children’s chairs made entirely from injection-molded polyethylene. Its striking red hue and architectural structure capture the optimism of 1960s Italian design. The removable legs and ribbed seat allowed the chair to be stacked or combined, transforming it into a creative toy as much as a functional seat. This example remains in excellent vintage condition with minor marks consistent with age. A museum-worthy collectible that reflects the innovation and charm of Kartell’s early plastic furniture — a perfect addition for discerning collectors of postwar Italian design.
