About the Item

This hand made prototype or child's size chair is a original survivor of the art and design movement De Stijl. Its design follows the De Stijl ideals of horizontal and vertical planes of geometry. The original fabric horse hair filled seat and back are still in wonderful condition. The fabric and original black painted wood have the perfect aged patina. Everything is right about it. I love the prominent pegged mortise and tenon joinery. For me its more of an art object that furniture. Its unsigned but could be the early work of an important designer.
