A very privileged princeling might have first sat upright in this George III-period mahogany highchair with a pierced splat, safety bar, footrest and green leather upholstery with brass nail head trim. Likely dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, this is a type of chair designed specifically for children during a time when furniture makers were adapting traditional armchair designs for younger users. Charmingly traditional but no longer meeting modern highchair standards, it remains the ideal display stand for a cherished doll or two.
