About the Item

A very fine 19th Century maybe 18th Century bronze swivel Malayan antique Lantaka Cannon with a yoke mount. Lantaka cannons are a type of portable cannon or swivel gun historically used throughout Maritime Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Brunei. These cannons were commonly mounted on merchant vessels and warships to defend against pirates and were also used in fortifications. The barrel is decorated with geometric and ornate designs with a flared end. Overall in very good condition, a great piece for a collector or history buff.
