Very large and unique observation viewer from the Second World War 25 x 105 by Jos. Schneider Co., Optische Werke KG, Göttingen, circa 1944. Completely in perfect condition. Standing on impressive adjustable tripod from later period around 1960. This viewer was exceptional. The same specimen is set up in the Artillery Museum in London. The copy in the museum is the viewer that Churchill used to follow the invasion of France. Size: 55 cm x 28 cm x H. 140 cm -190 cm Origin: Germany Period: circa 1943-1944 Doppelfernrohr Flak glass 25x105 (45 °), created by "KQC" (code name in WWII) from "Jos Schneider Co. Optische Werke KG" (commissioned by Oberkommando der Wehrmacht) in the factory in Göttingen, in about 1944, in an extreme limited number of copies. It was designed by Dr. AW Tronnier, chief designer of Schneider. The powerful housing (14 kg) and the impressive visual power in terms of sharpness, clarity and magnification, arose from the need of the Reich to offer binoculars with exceptional optical properties to the departments involved in anti-aircraft (Flak) and to surpass the much used Doppelfernrohr Flak 10x80 Another fundamental task for which this optic was intended was the observation of the runways and the behavior of flight stability, even at night, of the weapon that Nazi Germany regarded as a decisive turning point for the victory of the Second World War the "V1" and the brand new and deadly "V2" rockets. Schneider - Göttingen company was founded in 1913 by Joseph Schneider (1855-1933). In 1877 the Schneider family moved to Springfield, Ohio (USA) where, after acquiring American citizenship, they built a brewery factory under the name "Schneider Brothers". After a few years the company merged with other local beer producers and Joseph Schneider started using the company and after the birth of his son Joseph August Schneider (1888-1950) he returned to Bad Kreuznach where he opened a wine wholesaler. and in 1895 he applied for and obtained Prussian citizenship. The family later moved to "Villa Schneider" located on the Stromberger Strasse. Joseph August Schneider studied in Frankfurt (physics and optics) and applied his first patent in 1910, summarizing in: "Einrichtung an einem Kinematographen mit stetig movemem Bild zum optischen Ausgleich der Bildwanderung mittels zweier gleichläufig und synchron movter polygonaler Trommeln". Father Joseph founded the "Optical Anstalt Jos. Schneider Co" in Villa Schneider on January 18, 1913 to encourage the patents of the talented son. Already in 1914 3 of the first patents, which consist of the production of certain cinematographic lenses, saw the light, they were called "Symmar", "Componar" and "Isconar". In 1918 there were already 400 employees compared to 43 in 1914. During this period it was necessary to expand the factory to Hofgarten Strasse. The economic crisis of 1920 brought a strong fluctuation in sales figures. The goal of 100,000 was reached in 1925, just in time for Father Joseph's 70th birthday. Production was then slowly increased and between 1928 and 1932 a total production of 500,000 objects was achieved. Other new projectile lens systems enrich the production range and in the 1930s the first "Angulon" lens model 6.8 / 12 cm was born. In 1933, Joseph's father, who lived in the town of Bad Kreuznach, died at the age of 78. After the death of his father Joseph Schneider, Joseph August Schneider took over the company and son Hans Joseph Schneider (1926-1989) also entered the company. Following the rise of Hitler, optics for the military market were produced. In 1936 the lens production moved to the new factory in Göttingen. In 1938, the inauguration of the new building on the Ring Strasse had 450 employees. During the Second World War, the J. Schneider - Göttingen, under binding political obligations, was exclusively devoted to the production of only optics mil.

Zeiss German Jumelles WW2 12 x 60 Binoculars . These Zeiss Binoculars were primarily used by Luftwaffe Flak Artillery ground crews for spotting and identifying enemy aircraft and directing the crew served Rangefinders, Searchlights and Flak Cannons of the Anti-Aircraft batteries based around many German and occupied ports, cities and industrial centres. Due to their superb optics they naturally also proved useful on the battlefield for tactical observation and from the outset of 1939 were used in many theatres of war by the German Army. Presented here are a very high quality set of binoculars, manufactured by Zeiss bearing the marker of 'Jumelles 12 x 60' , indicating that they would have been made between 1942 and 1944 in occupied France. This set are unpolished in original dark grey with red stripe and are fitted to a polished cradle. They are fitted with adjustable and variable light shades (marked farbglasser) for use in all daytime and darker light conditions and have the later war style rain shield...
