About the Item
The, antique classic xiphos style blade was crafted in Greece, circa 2000. The old world sword features a double edge blade with two griffins and intricate motifs on both sides. The hilt showcases a detailed guard, a handle with the goddess Athena on one side and the demigod Hercules on the other, the pommel displays a replica of a coin with the infamous Alexander the great. The decorative weapon is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and has a rich polished steel and gilt finish. The decorative heavy sword would make a stylish, and fun addition to a man's study, office or game room.
The xiphos is a double-edged, one-handed Iron Age straight shortsword used by the ancient Greeks. It was a secondary battlefield weapon for the Greek armies after the dory or javelin. The classic blade was generally about (18–24 in).
