About the Item
This is an exceptional and important brass airplane squadron model, made in France circa 1950. The rare piece features three impressive all-metal jet plane models on a solid, polished brass arrow base. The sculpture is a great desk accessory for aviation collectors and lovers. There is no visible designer's signature. The model is signed with the insignia of the 11th French Fighter Wing.
The 11th Fighter Wing was a former fighter unit of the French Air Force, created on August 1, 1952, at the Reims air base, and dissolved on June 23, 1995.
The squadron's motto, boldly inscribed on the shield at its base, reads RES NON VERBA—a Latin phrase meaning "Actions, not words" or "Deeds, not words." It serves as a powerful reminder that true commitment is shown through action, not mere speech.
This French squadron was equipped with the iconic F-100 Super Sabre. The North American F-100D/F equipped this squadron from 1958 to June 23, 1977.
The North American F-100 Super Sabre is an American supersonic jet fighter aircraft designed and produced by North American Aviation Aircraft Manufacturer. The first of the Century Series of American jet fighters, it was the first United States Air Force (USAF) fighter capable of supersonic speed in level flight.
