Reprinted from the original edition and edited by Leonard C. Smithers. Illustrated by a series of 71 original illustrations reproduced from the original pictures in oils specially painted by Albert Letchford. Inscribed to the memory of Richard Burton's friend John Frederick Steinhaeuser, who assisted Burton in translation. Illustrated portrait frontispiece. Marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. Raised bands. 3/4 wine red Morocco leather binding with sage green cloth boards. Gilt Arabic inscriptions and geometric patterns. Published: London; H.S. Nichols LTD. 1897.
