A comprehensive history of Europe during the turbulent times of the French Revolution, spanning the years 1789-1815.
Sir Archibald Alison was a Scottish historian renowned for this work, which was conceived whilst Alison was travelling in France in 1814.
This has been regarded as the first scholarly English language study of the French Revolution, making it an important and essential work.
Uniformly bound in calf, with gilt detailing to back strips. Bindings signed by Clarke
Bedford.
With the bookplate of John Buxton Philips to the front pastedowns.
Retaining half titles.
Condition
In full calf signed bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Externally, excellent. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with only the odd spot, most concentrated to first and last few leaves.
