It is presented here rebound in its maroon quarter leather and cloth boards with gilt titles, tooling, and raised bands to the spine. The book has a new archival slipcase. Amelia Earhart is arguably one of the most famous pilots to date. This book narrates Earhart's personal account of her experiences as the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean by airplane, as a passenger in Wilmer Stultz's plane Friendship in 1928. Detailing her first transatlantic flight from New York to Wales, Earhart adds personal notes and childhood anecdotes to the log entries from the famous flight. She explains her early fascination with airplanes, as well as a discussion of the future of flight. Not long after the publication of this autobiography, Earhart would make her own solo flight across the Atlantic and use her fame to further the growing feminist movement in the 1930s. Earhart’s tragic disappearance in 1937 while attempting to circumnavigate the world proved heartbreaking for America. However her personality, thoughts, and early accomplishments are preserved in "20 Hrs. 40 Min." "20 Hrs. 40 Min." was the first of two books Earhart would write in her lifetime; the other being 1932's "The Fun of It." A third book, "Last Flight," was published posthumously and consisted of diary entries from her ill-fated 1937 flight around the world. CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Octavo. A finely bound copy of this lesser known satirical novel by great American author Ernest Hemingway, the second edition. The second edition of this work, which was first published in 1926. Smartly rebound in a half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. A lesser known work of Ernest Hemingway, this novella was written as a parody of 'Dark Laughter' by Sherwood Anderson. Hemingway takes a satirical look at pretentious writers in this novel and in its publication. He wrote it in only ten days, and received a mixed reaction when first published, partly as it was published in the same year as 'The Sun Also Rises...
