Company, 1988. Stated first edition hardcover with dust jacket. 397 pp. A large catalogue showing a hundred years of American seating furniture from the Winterthur Museum collection. The book contains three essay sections and six catalogue sections. The essay sections are: Connoisseurship and Furniture History, The Woods Used in American Furniture and 17th c Woodworking Craftsman and Their Crafts. The catalogue section has 92 examples of American furniture from the museum's collection arranged by types.
