About the Item
A hard back book written by one of the great experts on 20th century decorative arts. Arbus was a decorator, furniture designer, architect and sculptor, he was interested in good design and favoured the use of exotic and luxurious materials, such as rare wood veneers and lacquer, in his furniture designs. He made his name through the 1930s and 1940s and was a contemporary of many the great designers of the Art Deco era. Throughout his career he won numerous awards and worked on many significant commissions for the French Government, in particular a jewel cabinet which was a gift to the Queen Elizabeth of England in 1950 when she was still Princess Elizabeth. 399 pages illustrated throughout in color and black and white. Text is in French.
