About the Item

Lighting catalog (#C3) published in March, 1959 for the Architectural Lighting Corporation, Eastern United States distributors for Sveld Wohlert, Inc. of San Francisco. Wohlert was the U.S. distributor for the Danish lighting company Louis Poulsen, who famously produced designs by Poul Henningsen and Arne Jacobsen. Small 8vo (6” x 8.25”), 44 pages, glossy pictorial wraps. With b/w photos (one in color), some line drawings, and curatorial information including designer, measurements, materials, and model numbers. Showcases pendant fixtures, flush-mount ceiling fixtures, wall-bracket and armature lights, table lamps, and floor lamps. Includes work by Per Iversen, Svend Aage Petersen, Borge Hvidkjaer, Alvar Aalto, Jens Kaastrup-Olsen, Jean Fehmerling, Vilhelm Lauritzen, Vilhelm Wohlert, Aila and John Meiling, H. Ersgaard Olsen, Finn Monies and Gunnar Jensen, A. Bank Jensen and Kj. Iversen, and Leopold Teschi, along with Henningsen and Jacobsen. An excellent resource for researching and documenting Scandinavian mid-century lighting, from iconic to obscure. Scarce.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damages. Some rubbing to the glossy covers, with a previous owner’s initials on the front cover. The back cover has been folded vertical and hole-punched twice, for inclusion in a binder. Interior clean and bright.
